Two Types Of Websites You Should Have

By Darrel Hawes

Websites are an effective means of marketing your services and staying connected with your customers, prospective customers, etc. But you may be wondering: what type of website do I need?

The beginning selection is usually the format. Generally the primary choice is between a static site and a blog.

A static site is the kind that has been around since the internet began. The majority of websites are static sites.

On the other hand, blogging has exploded over the last few years. Blogs are very popular because they are quite easy to set up and easier to customize. In addition, they tend to be less formal in that the format allows one to post casual messages to your site.

So which should you choose?

You should realize that many businesses have both. A main company website plus a blog for quick little communications. Sometimes the business owner will maintain his or her own blog separate from the main company site.

If you're just starting out, it's hard to go wrong with blogging, at least at first. You can always build a static site afterward. Blogs like Wordpress are easy to set up and work with.

Another nice feature of blogging is that content and structure are separate. Altering your blog's look and feel will not effects your content.

It's possible that a blog is all you need, as they can sometimes be set up to appear like a professional site.

You should plan ahead as much as possible when it comes to the directions you want to take with your site. Study similar, successful sites and figure out what they're doing right that could adapted and applied to your situation.
