Using Coaching To Achieve Your Goals

By Ricardo d Argence

Executives are using coaches to improve their management abilities and help them to better relate to their employees. Job seekers are investing in career coaches to help them get promotions and better jobs. Other people are getting life coaches to help them set goals and make substantial decisions in their lives. It seems that everyone is investing in some sort of coaching these days.

First of all, let's try to explain what is coaching. Is a process that enables learning and development to occur and thus performance to improve. To be a successful a Coach requires a knowledge and understanding of process as well as the variety of styles, skills and techniques that are appropriate to the context in which the coaching takes place.

The coaching experience is guided by a person, the coach, in order to the team or person achieve success in whatever the goal is. That person will examine where the person or team are currently and identify viable areas where improvement is needed, define strategies and plans, hold a vision in full expression and success, and challenge the peron/team to achieve that vision.

Some clients turn to their coach for help on time management as well as career guidance and business advice. To a lesser but still significant extent, they seek coaching on relationships, family, wellness and spirituality. A coaching relationship usually begins with a personal interview. This initial interview is intended to assess challenges, opportunities and identify the direction that they want to take the coaching relationship. After that interview, you have to go through various assessments and evaluations.

Coaches are trained to listen, to observe and to customize their approach to individual client needs. Then, they'll seek solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful. The coach's job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has. When a person hires a coach to achieve some goal or to improve their professional or personal life they can experience many great benefits.

You may benefit from training in coaching if you are experiencing a challenge that you wish to overcome, have a goal that you wish to reach or there is an opportunity that you want to pursue. If you wish to fill gaps in knowledge or skills or you want to gain more self confidence. Basically, if there is any area in your life, either professionally or personally, you could gain a great deal by hiring a coach. Take inventory of your life, where you want to go and what you want to do. A coach can help you to achieve that goals.
