Small business marketing ideas that are easy and cheap.

By Joe White

Since I started my business in 1999 small business marketing has been a passion. It is really cool when you see the results of your efforts. Last week I had a customer tell me the main reason he bought from us was our web presence on Google and other search engines. He went on to say that everywhere he searched we came up 1st and he felt he had no other choice than to give us a shot. Then he said, "who does your small business marketing" and I answered "I do"...

Getting your business or website listed on the 1st page of Google really is much easier than you think...It just takes some face time with the computer. You can get a major start in a weekend and see the results of your small business marketing online in days..

A friend of mine that owns a home painting business used these these simple tactics to get his new website listed on the 1st page of Google in 2 days. He landed a $3500 job as a result. This is definitely not rocket science its more like brain surgery, just kidding its really simple and easy...these are small business marketing ideas that work...

Small business marketing in a specific geographical location should start with Google Local. Google Local is great because it is easy, quick and free. These are the listings that show up on the right of the map when you do a search like (Painters Minneapolis). It is free to be listed there you just have to sign up and enter your info...

Google Local is also now Google Maps and shows up for many different searches the best part is that it shows up for just your regular search in plain old Google any time you include a city name. There are a few tricks I have learned over the years like how to show up in multiple cities... This is the great place to begin for online small business marketing for local areas...

PPC (Pay Per Click) is another service that is offered by Google and great for small business marketing. The "Pay" part shouldn't scare you because you have complete control. You pay $5 to start and choose the areas you want your add to show up. You can choose 10 miles around your location, or a metro area, or state or country..

Google PPC allows you to write many ads and that rotate and Google tracks the views vs the clicks this is known as the click through rate. Then you know what ads are working and which are not. Then you delete the bad ones and keep trying to improve. You also set a budget anywhere from $5 per day and up or set a monthly budget lets say $300... Pay Per Click has been a huge part of my online small business marketing...

I've spent $52,000 with Google since January of 2005 and it is hands down the best and easiest small business marketing I have ever done. The cool part is I have never spoken to anyone that works for Google. I actually have never had to email them either... I do get a Christmas card from from Google each year. Tip: Again there are a few tricks with Google PPC that can save you money and time setting up your account. In summary this is the quickest way to increase website traffic and learn cutting edge tactics about small business marketing...
