How Information Products Can Increase Your Traffic

By Theo McLanahan

In times past people had libraries of books in there home encyclopedias, dictionaries, medical books, cook books all the information they needed for daily life was housed in those books. Those days are over. When people seek information now they turn to one simple source the internet. Rather than flipping through thousands of pages in huge books they click and browse until they find whatever information they need.

Because information is what people seek, making information available will draw traffic to your site. So no matter type of product you are selling or promoting, make information part of your merchandise and you will see an increase in viewers.

There are many types of information products to choose from: you can offer a special report, an e-course, audio or mix of all three. You can sell your information for profit or give it away for free and use it simply as a method for gaining traffic.

A special report is a good information product to offer. These reports are short and take very little time to prepare. You want to write a report about something that is associated with the products or services you promote. This way within your special report you direct attention to your product, increase traffic to your site and increase sales.

On the other hand, if you are an affiliate for several items related to babies, create a special report that new parents would find interesting. Plan your content so you can input your affiliate links inside the report. For instance, if you are an affiliate for a company that sells cribs, include a section in your report on how to find the best cribs, and insert your affiliate link in that area.

Simply offer one of these reports as a free gift for subscribing to your newsletter or other mailing list. Your subscribers will love the fact that they are getting something for free, and you will love the fact that your mailing list is growing.

The information you offer does not have to be free of charge. For example, if you promote tools you might offer a few "how to" lessons on areas of home improvement. You could charge a small fee for the lessons and within each lesson refer your readers to tools that will make the job easier. Provide them with a link to your site or the site of your affiliates so they can easily view the product.

Everyone wants to be informed. If you make yourself an expert on a subject and provide them with reliable information they can trust, they will continue to visit your site and will in turn buy your product.
