Some tips for your eBay Business

By Richard Joyce

We've all heard the stories that sales on eBay are down, but there are many sellers that are just flat out shooting themselves in the foot and making too many mistakes.

Hopefully this article will cover some of the correct things you need to do to help your eBay business.

To begin with, make sure to take good photographs. It's really incredible how many listings on eBay just have the most horrendous photos on them. It looks like the photos were shot from a moving car. There is no excuse for this.

It's not like you have to take a photography course, either. Just don't be too cheap you buy yourself a digital camera. Then take the product, and put all white background behind it and take some photos. It's real simple and it shows that you treat your business professionally.

Don't write full blown stories when you are describing your product. Think about it. If eBay is like a mall, how do most shoppers behave in a mall. They usually just like to browse around. They go in a store. They come out and the cycle continues.

It's not like they like to stay in one place too long. They want to see what everybody is selling. So they keep browsing until they find something they want.

When you write a big long story in your description, you're asking them to stay on the listing for longer than they normally would. Most people don't want to spend that much time reading.

You've got to remember that people don't have the same attention span they once did. Society wants their information quicker and more accessible. This may be a bad thing to many people but it's simply the reality of the marketplace.

You need to make it easy on the eyes. I strongly suggest that you put all your important information in bullets. It's just much easier for the shopper to read what the product is about. They can basically do a quick scan to get all the prevalent information. Also people are just used to reading in this style.
