In todays' digital, fast moving online marketplace you absolutely need a local business website to compete with everyone else. A great website is only the beginning of course you are going to have to get that website to show up on the first page of google. If you 've spent a lot of time and money without exposure you have been spinning your wheels. You are probably asking then just how do I assure myself a first page spot?
You are probably aware that there are lots of people in your area that could put up a local business website for you. I 'm sure that if you hop on over to google (but not yet) you could find thousands of companies that would be eager to put your business online. They would likely charge you anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars for the job. The problem of course is that 99% of them haven't a clue how to get you free traffic from google.
The good news is that website developers have learned how to put up gorgeous web properties. Some of them are really great at it and can build you a site that would make you proud. You can definately buy a super duper website that you will want to show off.
Problem is you still won't have any new business because you just won't be high enough in googles search results for it to matter. It's true. google doesn't really give a flying rats arse how many bells and whistles there are on your buisness website. They just don't care if you use flash or java or spinning jpegs or dancing elephants.
One reason local business website developers can get away with charging so much is that they add all of this unnescesary crapolla and then charge extra for it. Much of this junk actually makes it harder to get a first page let alone first spot ranking. You really don't want to go after today's customers with that kind of website.
So how does a business website satisfy google? They just want to find websites that are as close as possible to what the searcher is actually looking for. If I type in "Homewood Auto Repair" for instance google wants to send me to sites that are most relevant. Hopefully they will send me to sites that best match my desire for information about "Homewood Auto Repair".
Happily there are ways of building business websites that google likes a whole lot. Websites are "optimized" to rank highly. When we build websites for clients, we are sure to optimize in two ways. That is the hidden code on the page that humans don't see and the actual content of the website so as to rank very high in googles search results. The higher up you are the more traffic you get. The more traffic you get the higher you go up. This way you will stay up there.
And there's even better news. Most web designers are going to want several thousand dollars to build you a website. But that's not necessary at all. For less than $1000, you can get a really nice looking website that ranks high in Google and pulls in leads and customers There's no need to spend five grand or more on a website that blows people away with its design. That's not what a local business website is for, anyway.. It's to get you more customers so you can make more money.
