Article Marketing - Just The Facts

By Rob Metras

What is article marketing? People read articles when they use the Internet for work, school, or personal reasons. They may not be familiar with the term \"article marketing,\" but they have encountered its results. This article will explain the concept of article marketing and how it works.

Article marketing is a way to promote businesses on the Internet. Articles are posted on websites called article directories or syndication sites. The articles are then republished on other sites and blogs, bringing an article to a much larger audience, often at no cost to the original writer.

Many readers who wish to reuse or include a particular article on their site are allowed to do so by article syndication sites but they impose some conditions. The condition could be that the person who uses the article should give credit to its writer and must retain any links given in the article. This increases the popularity of the writer as more and more people will read the article.

If you want to write an article for syndication, an important early step is deciding on the keyword for the article. Keywords affect the article's popularity. You do not want to choose a keyword that is so obscure that it will rarely be a search topic, but you also don't want to choose a word so common that your article is one of a large number that appear when searching. Choosing the appropriate keyword may require a great deal of thought.

Once an article is written, the author posts it to an article directory website. These are usually free to the author; there are ads placed on every article page that allow the site owner to earn income without charging the authors, encouraging more authors to post. The more articles that are posted to the directory, the more popular the site will become on search engines. Therefore, this system benefits both the director owner and the article author.

If you need tips on writing articles for article marketing, you can consult article directory marketing blogs. These provide tips on choosing a subject and writing good articles. General tips on article writing can also be found on many sites on the Web.

At times the author of an article ,when he has an option to decide, takes over the control of the advertising space on the page where his article is posted. This results in control of advertisement on the said page. The author may not like to have any advertisement on his page, or if he wishes to put ads on his page then he get the earnings from the posted advertisements.

Authors and writers need to understand that articles which are short and in the range of 400-600 words get more traffic and are favored by people. People do not have time to go through in depth articles which are lengthy and time consuming. People generally want short articles which give them the basic information about a given subject. Therefore articles should be written keeping this in mind.
